That this Council supports the roll-out of publicly-accessible, free Wi-fi broadband to more Council-run facilities in the SDCC area, including, but not limited to, parks and community facilities.

South Dublin County Council has been involved in the setup of Wi-Fi facilities at the following locations:-
All SDCC Libraries:-
- County Library
- Castletymon Library
- Whitechurch Library
- Ballyroan Library – under reconstruction
- Lucan Library
- Clondalkin Library
- Stewarts Hospital Library & Coach House – 2 WAPs
Community Centres:-
- Brookfield Youth & Community Centre
- Rowlagh Community Centre (under construction)
Other:-
- South Dublin County Council HQ Building – various locations
- Big Picture Building in Tallaght
- Clondalkin Civic Offices
- Civic Theatre
- Rua Red Arts Centre
- Tallaght Stadium
- Grange Castle Golf Club
- Corkagh Park
Public Wi-Fi facilities are available at all of the above locations, free of charge to public users.
Heaviest usage of the service by the public is at SDCC libraries, where in excess of 27,000 Wi-Fi sessions were recorded during 2011.
The Information Technology Department, in conjunction with other Directorates continues to examine the feasibility of rollout to more locations and South Dublin County Council will continue to support the roll-out of free public Wi-Fi to our facilities.
