QUESTION NO. 13

QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner

To ask the Manager is there any progress on the issue of the removal of graffiti from the railway bridges coming into Clondalkin?  I do not accept that there are any health and safety implications to Iarnród Éireann workers in the cleaning off of graffiti on the roadside walls of the bridges.  There is an adequate footpath at all locations.  Can the Manager insist that this work be carried out without delay.  It is extremely demoralising to residents to have to pass this each day.  To its credit, the Council removes graffiti promptly.  Iarnród Éireann should be made to do the same.

REPLY:

Iarnród Éireann have informed the Environmental Services Department that their Chief Executive has instructed their Regional Manager to arrange for the removal of graffiti from the bridges at Ninth Lock Road and Station Road over the coming weeks.  They have indicated that they expect this work to be completed by the end of this month at the latest.
