MOTION NO. 15

MOTION: Councillor C. Jones

That the Manager will outline plans to seek the cooperation of local businesses to avoid using the Newcastle Road in the vicinity of the schools at opening and closing times. That the Manager will further outline measures taken to improve safety in this area in the interim.

REPORT:

In addition to the Council's intention to discuss this matter with relevant stakeholders in the business community, a report on Heavy Vehicles is to be discussed at a joint meeting of the Economic Development and Transportation SPCs in May.  Any recommendations will inform further progress on HGV management and highlight the responsibility of business transport managers within communities across South Dublin County Council.
