QUESTION NO. 11
QUESTION: Councillor A.M. Dermody
"To ask the Manager for a completion date for the bicycle path at Dargle Wood/Scholarstown Park.?"
REPLY:
Works commenced on site on Tuesday 15th November 2011. The east-west route was excavated and laid with hardcore before Christmas. The boundaries to the east and west have been dug and foundations poured. Access gates have been erected at all four entrance points. Ducting and lights have been installed last week. Tarmac has commenced on site Monday 2nd April and is scheduled to be completed by Friday the 6th April, ahead of schedule. The route will be open to pedestrians and cyclists by the end of the week. Railing work to secure boundaries will take place next week (beginning 10th April). The more labour intensive and craft based stone work to cover the concrete block walls will take longer (6-8 weeks) but this portion of the works will not preclude the use of the pathway by pedestrians and cyclists. It was agreed with residents that some graffiti removal and planting would take place and that will occur later in the year.
