Update on closure of Glenbrook Footbridge

Glenbrook Bridge was closed due to serious health and safety concerns regarding its structural integrity following flooding events last autumn. A Consultant Engineer Roughan and O’ Donovan was engaged to assess options and prepare tender documents for its repair. Consultations were held with Inland Fisheries Ireland in regard to permissible time periods for carrying out works and agreement on the layout of the new river bed. Tender documents were sent to 5 contractors on the 27^th March with a return date of 20^th April. It is hoped to commence on site in early May with a contract period of 8-10 weeks.  SDCC has applied to the OPW for funding but have not received a response to date.
