QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

To ask the Manager to report on what discussions have been held with the Department of Education and Skills on the identification of a site for the proposed new VEC Community National School for Lucan?

REPLY:

Contact between the Council Planning Department and the Department of Education and Skills regarding the provision of new school sites is primarily based on consideration of projected need for school sites in an area as advised by the Department and does not consider the identification of sites for or allocation of sites to individual patron bodies.

The Department has requested the Council to identify a number of potential sites for primary schools in the Lucan area in addition to those already identified at St Edmundsbury and the Esker Depot.  A report on potential site options is being prepared in order to assist future site acquisition.
