MOTION NO. 28
MOTION: Councillor T. Gilligan
That the Manager gives an update on the Rathcoole Area Plan 2012 including when will the next plan go to public consultation? Does the Manager support dezoning 10% of the land in the next plan?
REPORT:
The Heritage Council has provided funding to facilitate the scoping of a Village Design Statement for Rathcoole in 2012. Scoping is involved at an initial stage of a plan or process in order to identify its content and extent and could include determining the degree of consultation envisaged.
A Village Design Statement is a practical tool to help influence decisions on design and development and it will generally provide a clear statement of the character of a particular village against which planning applications may be assessed. As part of a non statutory process, a Village Design Statement would not allow consideration of zoning or de-zoning land.
