MOTION NO. 6
MOTION: Councillor T. Gilligan
That this Committee organises a parade for Clondalkin Village and allocates funding from the Community Department budget in conjunction with community groups, sporting groups, musical groups and residents associations.
REPORT:
It is presumed that the parade mentioned in the motion is a St. Patrick's Day parade.
There is an annual St. Patrick's Day parade held in Lucan which is organised locally with the assistance and advice of the Council's Community Team. The Community Services Department makes a small financial contribution towards, the costs.
The ideal way to run such an event is to secure the involvement of the community, the local authority and the Chamber of Commerce. The Community Services Department will meet with the community and business people in the area and see if there is an interest in hosting a parade in 2013.
