QUESTION NO. 13
QUESTION: Councillor B. Bonner
To ask the Manager to confirm that the piece of land at the corner of St John's Road and St John's Wood and beside the pedestrian gap is in fact in Council ownership? Previously, the Council has informed the residents group that the land is in private ownership. However, can it be confirmed, as per information supplied by the treasurer of the residents group that the land was in fact transferred to the ownership of the Council in September 2003? Full details of the transfer have been supplied to the Manager.
REPLY:
The piece of land at the corner of St. John's Road and St. John's Wood, and beside the pedestrian gap, is not in the ownership of the Council. The area of land transferred to the ownership of the Council in 2003 is an area of open space at St. John's Road/St. John's Close, opposite the entrance to Corkagh Park.
The matter is being pursued with the Chief State Solicitor's Office and the Department of Finance.
