MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

MOTION NO. 17

MOTION: Councillor T. Delaney

That the Manager will arrange for the removal of two redundant telephone kiosks in Clondalkin Village, one on Main Street and the other outside the Laurels on New Road. This action was previously committed to in May 2011.

REPORT:

Attempts were made to contact the operator of the public phone booths in Clondalkin Village in 2010. While originally operated by Esat, they were then taken over by Smart Telecom. This firm appear to have transferred responsibility to British Telecom.  However, BT forwarded the enquiry to a firm called i-Point.  Numerous attempts to contact i-Point have met with no response.

It has therefore been decided to remove the two kiosks. A quotation is being sought from our electrical contractor to disconnect all electrical supplies to the two former Esat kiosks. The contractor will be requested to remove the kiosks and reinstate and make safe the area.
