QUESTION: Councillor E. Higgins
To congratulate Management on the successful Tidy Towns initiative undertaken at a County level in Tallaght Stadium and at a local level in the area of Lucan south of the N4 and supports the efforts of Management to engage with Palmerstown residents on this issue.

The Members congratulations will be passed on to the Public Realm & Environmental Awareness Team who arranged this event and who will be working with communities to capitalise on the positivity of the evening.
Over a hundred people attended the Tidy Towns Public Meeting held in Tallaght Stadium on Thursday 16th February. The evening included presentations from a Tidy Towns adjudicator Padraic Fogarty, Suzanne Furlong, SDCC on the Public Realm and the Lucan Tidy Town's experience outlined by Kevin O Loughlin and Mairead McGowan, Lucan Tidy Towns. Warren Phelan concluded with a presentation on the Freetrade. Questions and answers followed. The following information stands were available at the event
As a result of enquiries received since the event, a local Tidy Towns meeting was held in the Griffeen Valley Educate Together school, Lucan, on Wednesday 7th March, fourteen people attended. At the meeting the following was discussed, agreeing on area for the group to focus on, what projects could looked by the group and the need for a communications strategy.
The Council have provided clean up materials to the group under the Social Credits system. The Council will continue to liaise with the group to identify supports required and prioritise actions if possible.
In addition a local Tidy Towns meeting has been organised for Palmerston on Wednesday 18th April at 7.30-9.00pm in the Parish Centre, Palmerston.
