MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

MOTION NO. 14

MOTION: Councillor T. Delaney

That the Manager presents a report on what this seasons plans are regarding maintenance and planting of the roundabouts, beds and containers in and around Clondalkin Village.

REPORT:

As in previous years, the erection of hanging baskets in Clondalkin village , will commence in early May. The wooden planters located on traffic islands in the village and at the Civic Offices which were repaired and refurbished last year, will also be watered and maintained throughout the summer season. The staff of the Parks & Landscape Services Section will continue to maintain the roundabouts and planted beds around Clondalkin Village to the highest standard possible, within the resources available.

However, it should be noted that much of this work is labour intensive and it will be a challenge to maintain standards this year, in particular where staff retirements have recently occurred. The assistance of the newly formed Tidy Towns Committee, in relation to the maintenance of the floral displays in Clondalkin Village, would be welcome and a meeting to explore possible options will be arranged with those involved, in the near future.
