MOTION NO. 24
MOTION: Councillor T. Ridge
That the Manager arrange a site meeting to take place at the Old Nangor Road at the entrance to Dunnes Stores at Leinster Terrace opposite CPM to assess the flood area on both sides of the Old Nangor Road.
REPORT:
On the 24th of October 2011, the cottages in Leinster Terrace on the Old Nangor Road and some of the units in the Mill Shopping Centre were flooded due to the screen at the Mill Pond Apartments blocking with debris from the Mill Pond which is privately owned and diverting the water down Mill Lane onto the Old Nangor Road. Once the Drainage Section was aware of the situation on the 24th of October 2011 a crew was dispatched to clean this screen and the Civil Defence went to help the residents in the Leinster Terrace. At the moment, the Drainage Section is unclear as to who owns the Mill Pond but suspects that it is in NAMA but the Drainage Section continues to clean this screen on a regular basis to prevent flooding of property in this area. Due to it being unclear about the ownership of the Mill Pond, the Drainage Section is unclear as to who should attend any site meeting.
