MOTION NO. 16
MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins
That the Manager give a detailed report on grass cutting along the N4 at Palmerston and confirm whether any funding allocated for use in the public realm can be assigned to the upkeep of the median along the N4 at this location.
REPORT:
The grass was cut on one occasion on the N4 at Palmerstown in 2011 using funding for the Queen's visit. The NRA allocation for National Primary Maintenance is reduced in 2012 from €76,765 to €69,051.
Roads will coordinate with Parks Dept. and endeavour to have the median cut in the next few months. A request has been made to the NRA for further funding but no extra funding is available
Arising from a discussion at the Council’s Budget Meeting in December a programme is being devised at the moment that will focus primarily on flood risk alleviation at locations highlighted by the extreme adverse weather on the 24th October 2011. Once these works are defined and costed, any remaining resources will be allocated to works identified in the Task Force Schedule of Public Realm works.
