3 Tonne Scheme on Kennelsfort Road

This matter arises from the motion passed at the last ACM requesting the Manager to alter the existing HGV restriction on Kennelsfort Road in a particular way despite reservations expressed on the unworkable  nature of the proposal.

The HGV limitation as it currently exists was put in place on foot of a report (attached herewith) prepared by the Traffic Department in 1996 relating to the access and egress arrangements for the business community in the area consequent on the imposition of a limited HGV ban on the lower part of Kennelsfort Road.   The first 3 paragraphs of this report outlines the background of the report. The motion agreed to by the Members at the last meeting is similar to that which pertained before this attached report was agreed to and implemented in 1996. This limited ban is identified in paragraph 1.3 of the report. Other matter contained in the report will be examined to determine their viability at this time.

It is recommended that the current ban remain in place at this time and that its enforcement be brought to the attention of the Gardaí  and that other matters contained in the attached report be examined to determine the need for same at this time..
