QUESTION NO. 9
QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
To ask the Manager if he will make a report on the frequency of monitoring by the Council's Park Rangers for actual or potential anti-social behaviour in Lucan Demesne, Waterstone Park, Griffeen Valley Park, Ballyowen Park and other Parks in the Lucan EA?
REPLY:
There are currently 4 Park Rangers employed to patrol the parks in the Lucan area. Their work is not exclusive to Lucan only as they also cover parks and open spaces in Palmerston and North Clondalkin. The patrolling of parks is undertaken on foot, by bicycle and by vehicle. The Park Rangers patrol the parks 7 days a week during official park opening times. The majority of anti-social behaviour takes place during the hours of darkness after the parks have closed and the staff have finished work for the day.
