QUESTION NO. 6
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Manager to address concerns expressed by residents of Sarsfield Park regarding litter, dumping and vermin in green areas, in particular in the tree belt and shrubbery east of the steps opposite Topaz?
REPLY:
The Parks & Landscape Services Section remove litter from Sarsfield Park open space as part of regular maintenance works undertaken in the area. The area adjacent to the steps is on a heavily used pedestrian route and is in close proximity to shops and a takeaway. The area is well served with two litter bins, one adjacent to the bus stop and one on the opposite side of the road. It is the experience of the Park's Section that the volume of litter dropped at locations such at this one often exceeds the resources available to remove it. Nevertheless the area is cleaned and will continue to be cleaned as often as resources allow.
