QUESTION NO. 10

QUESTION: Councillor E. Higgins

To ask the Manager to assess the potential need for monthly mobile recycling collection days in Lucan and Palmerston with a specific focus on dry recyclables?

REPLY

All refuse collection service providers are obliged to provide a separate kerbside collection for dry recyclables to householders under the Council's Bye-laws for the Storage Presentation and Collection of Household Waste 2007.  It is not therefore considered necessary to provide an additional mobile collection service for the same type of material.

Collections held in the past for junk, hazardous waste and W.E.E.E. have all now been curtailed for economic purposes but also having regard to the availability of services and facilities such as C.C.R.I. for W.E.E.E. collections and the disposal facility available to residents of the county at Ballymount.
