“To ask for a management report on the increasing litter problem in Springfield , in particular the Alderwood and Maplewood areas?”
REPLY:
The Springfield area including Alderwood and Maplewood areas is patrolled by the Litter Warden once a week and where there is evidence of littering/illegal dumping, the location is listed for cleansing by the Council's Cleansing/Operations Crew. In the period January 20l2 ten no. reports of littering/dumping were made but no evidence was found by the Litter Warden to facilitate prosecution under the Litter Pollution Act l997.
The Council’s Cleansing Staff work in partnership with members of the Local community of Springfield to remove waste collected by residents.
Alderwood is listed for Road Sweeping by Oxigen week ending Friday l7th February 20l2.
