QUESTION NO. 12
QUESTION: Councillor M. McDonagh
To ask the Manager following the removal of the bottle bank from Bawnogue shops due to anti-social behaviour to provide a report on ongoing efforts to secure a new and safe location for the bottle banks and to ask the Manager to consider approaching the Bawnogue Enterprise and Community Centre if they would be willing to have the bottle bank located within their gated premises beside the existing clothes bank?
REPLY:
The Council will contact the Bawnogue Enterprise and Community Centre to discuss the possible relocation of the recycling banks. It should be noted that access to the Enterprise Centre is restricted at night time thus making the site not ideal for such a facility. The Council is also looking at other potential, alternative sites in the area where bottle banks could be placed. The maintaining of existing bottle bank sites is included in the Council Recycling Strategy.
