QUESTION NO. 17
QUESTION: Councillor M. McDonagh
To ask the Manager for an update on requests by residents at the addresses supplied to have lands transferred into their properties in an attempt to reduce anti-social behaviour and illegal dumping at the sites involved?
REPLY:
The three properties referred to in the question at Rowlagh, Melrose and Deansrath are all purchased properties and accordingly any transfer of land to be incorporated into the properties requires a formal legal transaction.
Terms have been issued to the houseowners of the property at Rowlagh in relation to a plot of land at the rear to straighten the rear boundary. It is understood that the houseowners wish to proceed with the transaction and further discussions will be held with them with a view to progressing this matter.
With regard to the property at Melrose, terms were again issued to the houseowners in relation to disposal of a section of a laneway to the rear of the house. The public right of way over this laneway has been extinguished and the laneway has been blocked up for some time. A response is awaited from the houseowners as to whether they wish to pursue their application.
No application has been received from the houseowners of the property at Deansrath to acquire the section of laneway at the rear of their property but in the event of an application being received, the matter will be considered. However as with all laneways, account will have to be taken of the views of adjoining occupiers who may have access from the laneway and also the presence of any pubic services or other utilities therein.
