MOTION NO. 18
MOTION: Councillor B. Bonner
That the Manager presents a report on the red speed ramps in the Clondalkin area. Some of them have eroded and are as a result in a dangerous condition. This has been referred to me particularly in relation to the Woodford area. Would this erosion indicate that the design and materials used were unsuitable?
REPORT:
Significant deterioration to the surface of traffic calming ramps has occurred throughout the County. Similar issues are also evident in neighbouring local authority areas. It is probable that the recent periods of prolonged sub-zero temperatures that were experienced during late 2009 / early 2010 and again in late 2010 contributed to the problem. Road's Department Staff were in discussions with the road surfacing suppliers and contractors to examine the matter and develop a strategy to prevent a re-occurrence. The ramps in the Woodford Area have been added to the programme of ramp renewal.
