QUESTION NO. 13
QUESTION: Councillor M. McDonagh
To ask the Manager, further to several members representations on the issue in 2011, to provide an update on the cleaning, maintenance and future of the laneway from the Boot Road to the Common's Road including dates on which the laneway was last cleaned of illegal dumping; dates on which the overgrown shrubs and trees were cleared; and whether the Council has any plans to consult with local residents on the future of the laneway?
REPLY:
The laneway that is located between Boot Road and Commons Road was last cleaned by the Cleasining Department on the 11th January 2012. The staff removed bags of domestic waste that had been dumped in the laneway by unknown individuals.
The laneway in question is not in the ownership of the Council. However, a public right of way exists over this laneway. A reference will be carried out to establish the ownership details.
In order for this laneway to be closed it will be necessary in the first instance to extinguish the public right of way. If a petition is received from those residents immediately adjoining the laneway identifying their concerns, and requesting that the public right of way be extinguished, the matter will be brought to the Clondalkin Area Committee for its recommendation.
