MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

That this Committee requests the Manager to present a programme for enhanced planting and/or boundary treatment at Finnstown, along the boundary with Hayden's Lane, as discussed at the December on-site meeting with residents and to further include planting and boundary improvements to close the gap in hedging at the ESB box at Brookfield?

REPORT:                                                          

As agreed with the residents at the site meeting it is proposed to plant hedging to fill gaps in the boundary with Hayden's Lane at Woodscape and Brookfield.  In doing this work the residents were advised that where people are determined to move from one estate to another to access facilities such as shops, bus routes etc, it may not be possible to successfully stop all of the this movement by planting the gaps.

There are services located in the ground at the gap in the hedging at the ESB box at Brookfield.  This will effect that extent of planting that can take place at this location and it may not be possible to plant the full extent of the gap.

There are no proposals to undertake boundary improvement works at the location in question other than repair of damaged portions.
