MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)

Monday, January 23, 2012

QUESTION NO. 5

QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

To ask the Manager to provide an update on my question regarding the graffiti affecting the commercial units on the corner of Whitehall Road West and Rockfield Avenue, Perrystown, Dublin 12 from the December meeting, and to provide a report in general, including any statistics available, on the recent reported upsurge in graffiti in the general Dublin 12/6 West area, and on the measures available to tackle this.

REPLY:

These units are in private ownership.  The responsibility for the removal of the grafitti is a matter for the tenants/owners of these premises.  The Litter Warden for the area will inform the owners of their responsibilities under the Litter Pollution Acts 1996-2010 in this regard.

All Grafitti complaints are followed up and removed where in public ownership by the Grafitti crew.  Over the Christmas period there was a slight increase of grafitti being reported in the Tallaght area generally.
