QUESTION NO.10

QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff

"To ask the Manager if the Company operating the Fisheries in Corkagh Park are keeping to the terms of the contract issued to them in respect of opening hours, are these opening hours monitored by the Parks Dept and is he satisified that the terms of the Contract are fully adhered to?"

REPLY:

The terms of the contract forwarded to the company operating the fishery at Corkagh Park are being complied with in relation to the opening hours of the facility, which can be agreed from time to time with the County Council as necessary.  In this regard the fishing lakes at Corkagh Park remain open to the public all year round from 10.00 a.m. to park closing time, seven days a week. On weekdays during the very quiet winter period from November to March, for operational reasons the lakes are managed from the nearby Tourist Caravan Park. These arrangements which have been agreed with operator of the fishery, are monitored closely by the Council and are subject to ongoing review depending on the level of activity at the lakes and they take into account the current economic climate and the need to control costs, so as to ensure the continued viability of the facility, into the future.
