MOTION: Councillor C. King

That the Manager, following recent statements from Minister Hogan in relation to some vacant NAMA properties being possibly utilised for Social Housing, states whether any discussions have taken place between SDCC and the Department to establish whether or not some of the vacant NAMA properties in Tallaght would be suitable for such a scheme.

REPORT:

The Council has not had direct discussions with NAMA in relation to the provision of social housing units.  There are general discussions between NAMA and the Housing Agency on the availability of vacant dwellings for social use and once details of these discussions become available the Members will be advised. 

It is anticipated that there will be eighteen properties in the first tranche for South Dublin County Council and that these properties will be made available under the Leasing Initiative.
