MOTION NO. 3
MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins
That the Manager provides a detailed report on the public consultation carried out over the past 4 years with respect to proposals for one-way systems and traffic calming measures in the cell area of Palmerston including The Oval, Turret Road and Woodfarm Drive; and to advise on what action needs to be taken to tackle speeding in this area.
REPORT:
The attached report was considered at the County Council Meeting held on 12th April, 2010. Following consideration of the report it was AGREED:-
“That this Council does not proceed with this particular traffic calming scheme and to commence work on the design of traffic calming measures for the next area on the list of selected areas. In the meantime, the local Councillors will meet with Palmerston Community Council with a view to identifying traffic calming measures acceptable to the residents of Palmerston. When such measures are identified they can also be progressed through the public consultation procedure.”
However, it should be noted that the Council has no budget for traffic calming measures in 2012.
