QUESTION NO. 11

QUESTION: Councillor T. Delaney

To ask the Manager to arrange extra litter bins in Saggart Village and more regular emptying of same?

REPLY:

There are a total of 6 litter bins in the Saggart village area, these litter bins are emptied 4 times a week. The area engineer has examined the Village to assess the requirements for additional litter bins and there are proposals for 2 new bins to be installed which will be assigned to the collection route.

Bins are collected Monday to Friday and the frequency of collection is determined by the volume of waste material removed from the bin.  The litter bins are designed for small items of  waste and not the disposal of domestic waste or glass bottles. These items should be disposed of in the household refuse collection and bottle banks.
