Cathaoirleach's Business

"That the Manager again have the road sweeper clean the roads at Woodview Cottages and Castlefield Way which still have muck and dirt on their roads from the recent flooding."

REPORT:

Following the recent flooding the drainage section (a) cleaned out all road gulleys in the areas identified, (b) they cleaned all roads with a Roadsweeper truck and  (c) removed all debris.

The Environmental Services Department have a private contractor undertake its road sweeping operations.  The Contractor sweeps main roads on a monthly basis, housing estate roads on a quarterly basis. This Contractor operated in conjunction with the Council staff during the flooding to facilitate the removal of deposited material from the roadways.

The Contractor is next scheduled to sweep Woodview Cottages on January 5th 2012. Castlefield Way is scheduled for sweeping the first week of February. 

The Council is currently reviewing the Road Sweeping Tenders with a view to appointment a Contractor on February 1st 2012 and the schedules may be altered by the successful tenderer in accordance with their works programme.
