QUESTION NO. 7
QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"To ask the Manager what consultation took place with local residents adjacent to the new traffic calming scheme on Knocklyon Road?"
REPLY:
The provision of the traffic calming scheme was incorporated into the Ballycullen Firhouse QBC scheme to enhance the safety provision for pedestrians and cyclists at the junction with Firhouse Road, particularly in view of the unlikely construction of the New Knocklyon Road scheme in the near future. The provision of the ramps was part of this scheme and was approved under the public consultation process for the Knocklyon Road scheme. It was discussed with the Knocklyon Road and Landsdowne District Residents Association at a special meeting in the traffic division at their request. They had written to the Council outlining a number of objections to our proposals. The ramps have been provided to slow traffic down and to highlight to all road users that this road is a different space to the Firhouse Road.
