QUESTION NO. 17

QUESTION: Councillor E. Coburn

"To ask the Manager for an update on the foot and cycle path works at Dargle Wood?"

REPLY:

Work on the footpath and cycle path project at Dargle Wood is on-going. Fortunately despite the late start, the reasonably good weather to date has ensured the work is progressing. The Parks Dept is working on site in such a way as to not overly disturb the surrounding areas and are working off the footpath as they go along. If dry weather continues, the majority of the dig out and hardcore should be completed this year with final finishes early next year. A design for the existing entrances into Dargle Wood has been done and discussed with nearest local residents and the residents association,  in terms of trying to secure the open space as much as possible and the proposals should help improve the existing situation for residents adjacent to the open space.
