QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

To ask the Manager, further to my motion at the October meeting, to provide a detailed update on my proposal that South Dublin County Council, in conjunction with Lucan Educate Together NS, seek to develop a Community Garden on the vacant plot of Council-owned land next to the school on Mount Bellew Way?

REPLY:

The plot of land in question was the subject of correspondence with the Department of Education and Skills approximately two years ago.  At the time the Department indicated that no additional lands were required for the adjoining school and accordingly it did not wish to acquire the lands.

The site has been referred for further consideration to the various departments of the Council and to the Department of Education and Skills pending a decision being made on the future use of these lands.  A response is awaited at present.
