MOTION NO. 12
MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins
That the Manager, further to the report presented to Councillors after the flooding, outline what preventative measures will be introduced in the Lucan and Palmerston areas. The report should identify what drains / gullies will be upgraded and to confirm whether a need for additional gullies along Wheatfield and Glenaulin Roads in Palmerston has been identified and when works can begin.
REPORT:
Since the deluge on the 24th of October 2011, the Drainage Section has been on site in Palmerston, in the Wheatfield, Glenaulin and Glenmaroon Roads area during periods of prolonged and heavy rainfall but the existing gullys and surface water sewers have been able to cope adequately with this rainfall thus making it impossible to identify any areas of these roads that may need additional gullys but the Drainage Section will persist with this exercise. If the Councillors are aware of any video footage of water flowing down and across these roads and avoiding the existing gullys, the Drainage Section would appreciate a copy of the same footage.
