SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

QUESTION NO. 1
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Manager to update on the Part 8 planning process and efforts to secure funding for the proposed new residential units on the site of the former shop unit at St. Finian’s Estate?
REPLY:
A small infill scheme has been designed at the request of and in consultation with members of the Lucan Area Committee for 3 housing units on this corner site (formerly occupied by a derelict shop unit) which has been a focal point in the past for anti-social behaviour. At a recent meeting with the Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government, it was put forward as a proposal for funding under the Social Housing Investment Programme for 2012. It was the intention that the formal Part 8 consultation process would be initiated for the scheme as soon as approval in principle was received from the Department.
The Department have noted the Council's desire to proceed with the scheme but were not in a position to commit to funding for the proposal in 2012. Consequently, the Council is not in a position to progress the scheme to Part 8 stage at this time.
