MOTION NO. 10

MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins

That the Manager present a report updating Councillors on progress in securing funding for exercise trails in parks throughout Lucan and Palmerston and outline the next steps towards establishing these trails.

REPORT:

A total of 11 applications were made to the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport for grant aid for the provision of outdoor gym equipment in the South Dublin County Council area.    

All eleven applications were successful and notice of provisional allocation has been received from the Department.  Three of the applications are for parks in the Lucan/Palmerston area.  The three parks are:

1.        Griffeen Valley Park

2.        Waterstown Park

3.        Hermitage Park

The Council advertised a tender for the supply and installation of outdoor gym equipment at the eleven locations on Friday 11th November and, subject to a satisfactory response, it is expected that contracts will issue to successful companies as soon as possible thereafter.
