QUESTION NO. 2

QUESTION: Councillor M. Devine

“To ask the Manager to provide a central skip on campus, as previously supplied, so that following each election the Posters can be easily disposed of and managed for recycling”.

REPLY:

The Council has  no plans  to supply a skip for the diposal of election posters on this occasion.  Most election posters are now made from corriboard which is a plastic type material. Many waste operators have a facility to recover such material and use this as a fuel source. The parties/candidates should contact the companies concerned before making arrangements to deliver the posters to the companies.   Any posters which are made from plain cardboard and which do not contain solvents or adhesives may be brought to the Council’s Civic Amenity and Recycling Centre at Ballymount where they may be disposed of for recycling free of charge.
