SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 15
MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"That this Committee requests a full report into the flooding of Glenvara Park, in spite of the remedial work undertaken, and that the drainage engineers arrange to meet with the residents concerned with a view to informing them what remedial works will be undertaken to ensure that this problem will not reoccur AND explain what action has been taken to find the source of the problem."
REPORT:
All remedial works undertaken to date by the Drainage Section in Glenvara Park have been at the bottom of the estate where the bungalows are situated and this work seems to have been successful as there was no flooding in this area even during the recent very severe weather conditions. The flooding in Glenvara Park during the recent very severe weather conditions took place at the very top of Glenvara Park near to Glenlyon Estate and in one of the cul de sacs in Castlefield Estate. The Drainage Engineer is more than willing to meet with concerned residents in these areas to discuss future remedial works which will include a CCTV survey of the surface water sewer to check for blockages, building an earthen berm around a manhole in the green area at the top of the estate and a close examination of the sewers in some of the newer estates in the Woodstown area before they are taken in charge.
