Policy initiative on election posters – For Discussion

Cllr John Hannon introduced the item on election posters as he had looked for it to be brought before the SPC. An election poster presentation was provided by Ms O’Brien, Environmental Awareness Officer. Following contributions from Cllr Bond, Ms Kiernan, Cllr O’Connell Cllr Bonner, Ms Ruddock, Cllr Tuffy, Cllr Walsh, Cllr Hannon, Director of Services Ms Poole responded to the issues raised by the members.

It was requested by Cllr Hannon that a working group from the SPC be established to consider the issues surrounding election posters and to come back to the SPC with a draft policy.  Ms Kiernan, Cllr O’Connell, Cllr Tuffy, Cllr Bond, Cllr Coburn & Cllr Hannon all volunteered to be part of the working group.  Cllr Hannon will follow up with any remaining political parties to ensure cross party participation.

Item 4

Progress on policy initiative regarding county signage

A report on the progress on a policy initiative regarding county signage was presented by Mr Murphy, Senior Executive Officer. Following contributions from Cllr O’Connell, Cllr Hannon, Ms Ruddock, Cllr Tuffy, Cllr Walsh Ms Kiernan, Mr Murphy responded to the issues raised by the members.

 

Cllr Hannon requested that this presentation be noted

Litter Fines and Enforcement - Update

An update report on the Level of Enforcement and Collection Rates was presented by Ms Kelly, Administrative Officer. Following contributions from Cllr O’Connell, Cllr Walsh, Ms Ruddock, and Cllr Hannon, the Director of Services Ms Poole responded to the issues raised by the members.

Cllr Hannon requested that this report be kept on the SPC agenda.
