QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

To ask the Manager to replace two cherry blossom trees at Esker Lane which were previously removed and not replaced; and to further include additional tree-planting in Woodville Estate as requested by the residents association as part of the next Arboricultural Programme?

REPLY:

The two cherry blossom trees on Esker Lane were removed because they were dead.  The focus of the 2011 / 2012 Arboricultural programme is on maintenance rather than new plantings in order to optimise use of the limited resources available.

Replacement planting at Esker Lane, as well as additional planting at Woodville Estate, will be considered in the context of the next Arboricultural Programme.
