That the Manager would present a report on the current status of two derelict houses at 2 and 4 Lealand Walk.  Residents in this area have been forced to put up with a totally unacceptable situation over many years and it appears that no progress has been made.

REPORT:

2 Lealand Walk was inspected by the Area Engineer under Section 3 of the Derelict Sites Act, 1990, and was found to be in a derelict condition.  The registered owner does not reside at this property and despite its best endeavors the Council has been unable to get the owner to render the property non derelict. The Council has decided in this instance to vest the property under the Derelict Sites Act. 

With regard to the rented Council house at 4 Lealand Walk, the Housing Department has reported that the Circuit Court recently granted an order for possession of the property to the Council but that a two month stay of execution was placed on the order.  The order was granted in the absence of the tenant or his legal representatives and it is possible that the granting of the order may still be challenged.
