MOTION NO.4

MOTION: Councillor J. Hannon

That necessary tree pruning and removal take place urgently on the tree lined path from Firhouse Road/Woodlawn Park/Carrigwood as already agreed in 2010 with Woodlawn Park Grove Residents Association, and that this and other commitments by Parks Dept be honoured now

REPORT:

It was agreed earlier in the year that the detail of the forthcoming Arboricultural Works Programme for 2011/2012 would be discussed with the Elected Members prior to it being formally presented to the relevant Area Committees.  This process should allow for input from the Elected Members into the content of the Programme and that would reflect areas of priority raised by the public with them.  The final programme will be presented based on considerations of Arboricultural best practice, safety considerations and balancing the available budget at the time.

It is intended to meet with the Elected Members later this month and with the intention of presenting the final programme in November 2011.

In relation to the specific issue of the trees on the tree lined path from Firhouse Road/Woodlawn Park/Carrigwood it was not possible to undertake the work under the 2010/2011 programme due to the constraints on the available resources and the prioritisation of work outlined above.  The work will again be included for consideration in the 2011/2012 programme.
