QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

To ask the Manager to outline what actions are proposed to make safe and secure the site at Coolamber, Finnstown given the repeated failure of the land-owner to maintain a secure boundary, in particular the failure to close gaps in railings at Finnsview; and to further outline progress in seeking removal of the remaining unsafe structures on the site which have become the focus of much of the local anti-social behaviour?

REPLY:

The site at Coolamber has been inspected by the Council's Dangerous Places Section  and it is considered that the site does not represent a danger to members of the public. Consequently there is no action open to the Council under dangerous places legislation. However, following representations by the councillor, the Council continues to seek the agreement of the owners to carry out works to the boundary fencing. A further letter has issued to the owners in this regard.
