QUESTION NO. 8

QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

To ask the Manager if he will make a Report on the provision of Fire Brigade Services, including the Fire Brigade Ambulance Service, for Lucan and Palmerston?

REPLY:

With regard to the provision of the Fire and Rescue Service, Dublin Fire Brigade is currently carrying out a detailed Risk Based Analysis of its area of operations using guidelines set down by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.  When complete it will be possible to determine the levels of cover that exist together with actions necessary to improve services where required, the areas of Lucan and Palmerstown will be encompassed in this analysis.

Dublin Fire Brigade operates the Emergency Ambulance Service in the Dublin City Area and responds to on average 71,000 calls per year.  There are currently 11 ambulances operating on a 24-hour basis.  The service provided is constantly being reviewed and improved.
