MOTION NO. 20

MOTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

That this Committee acknowledges the concerns of parents and staff of Gaelscoil Naomh Phadraig and Coláiste Cois Life about the road safety hazard at the small roundabout at the entrance to the two schools and requests the Road's Department to make a report on measures which might be implemented to make the area safer for pedestrians, including pupils, and drivers.

REPORT:

Castle Road (including the section serving Nos. 2- 16 even Esker Meadows View) is in charge of the Council up to the north western boundary of no. 2 Esker Meadows View. The section of the road to the north west of this point and the section in a south westerly direction is not in the charge or maintenance of the Council. The Council is therefore precluded from carrying out any works on this section of the road and any works would be a matter for the Schools subject to the necessary consents being obtained in advance.
