QUESTION: Councillor C. Jones

To ask the Manager for an update regarding the proposed road at the back of Dodsboro in the Adamstown SDZ raised by me previously in item 26440?

REPLY:

The Adamstown SDZ Planning Scheme made provision for vehicular access via the SDZ lands to accommodate potential future development of backland sites at Dodsboro Cottages.  Development was permitted in the section of Adamstown SDZ to the south of Dodsboro Cottages in 2008 (Reg. Ref. SDZ08A/0004).  The approved development includes a roadway that would allow for the provision of vehicular entrances from the rear of said properties at Dodsboro via Adamstown.  To date this planning permission has not been implemented and given the current level of housebuilding activity it is uncertain whether the road will be constructed as part of the permission in the immediate future. The planning permission will remain valid for the normal 5 year period i.e. to 2013, however, and an application to extend it may be made.
