QUESTION: Councillor J. Hannon

"To ask the Manager for a progress report on improvement works that have been carried out, or are proposed, at Dodder Linear Park?"

REPLY:

Normal maintenance work continues in the Dodder Linear Park which stretches in the South Dublin County Council area from Rathfarnham to Bohernabreena and into the Dublin Mountains. 

Significant works that have been undertaken in the last few years include:

• The development of a section of the Dublin Mountains Way at Kiltipper Park
• The redevelopment of the old concrete works at Firhouse.
• Conservation works to the Ely Arch (aka. The Roman Arch) at Lower Dodder Road
• Levelling and drainage of parkland at Old Bawn to provide for new playing fields.

In terms of proposed works, Part 8 approval has been obtained for the development of a football pavilion and associated car park at Old Bawn Road. This project has been included in the Draft Rolling Capital Programme 2011 -2013 and is subject to the identification of the necessary funding to proceed.
