QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor E. Coburn

"To ask the Manager to outline the plans for the re-instatement of the green at Whitechurch?"

REPLY:

The contract for the infill housing scheme at Whitechurch Phases 4 & 5 was not fully completed when the contractor went into liquidation.

The Council were left with a great deal of defects and unfinished work to resolve in the following categories:

1. Completion of road / grass margin areas.
2. Drainage completion and defects.
3. Defects in individual housing units.
4. Defects / incomplete items to the Community Centre.
5. Completion, to an acceptable standard, of the open space areas and reduction of open space levels behind Grangebrook as required by the contract.

Items 1 – 4 have now been substantially completed with the only item outstanding being rectification to drainage near the Community Centre which is currently being addressed.

Unfortunately, the remaining item, completion of the open space, has not been addressed as soon as was envisaged and previously indicated to the members. The scope of the required works are being negotiated with the Parks and Landscape Services Department. A specification will then be prepared with a view to seeking quotations for the work in the near future. This will be advanced in accordance with funding availability.
