QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor J. Hannon
To ask the Manager to report on consideration by this Council of the 'Lights On' policy, as adopted by the Council on foot of my Motion in 2004?
REPLY:
Following the passing of the motion, the matter was forwarded to the then Department of Transport for consideration in any future road safety measures. It was noted at the time of consideration of the original motion that a previous proposal for "Lights On" or Daytime Running Lights had not been adopted. The matter remains one primarily for consideration from a national road safety perspective rather than a local one. It is now considered that the matter should be referred to the Road Safety Authority for their views. The Member will be informed when a reply is received.
