MOTION NO. 14

MOTION: Councillor D. Looney

That this Council, noting the population increase in South Dublin to some 265,174 residents as detailed in the Preliminary Results to Census 2011, and the ratio of one Councillor to every 10,199 residents (one of the highest in the State), calls on the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government, in the interests of democracy, community representation and fairness, not to reduce the number of Councillors in the South Dublin area in his upcoming review of local government arrangements.
